Having completed a number of home renovation projects while living in the Washington, DC area, we had a very specific idea of what we wanted from a design and construction firm in the Jacksonville area. From the start, Nick Sandifer and his team felt like the perfect match for what we were looking for in terms of style, culture and workmanship. And the process and final product rang true to our standards and expectations of a first floor remodel of our 1990s home. Throughout the initial discovery and specs stages, the Sandifer team and their fantastic design partner worked seamlessly with us to pull together a plan of action that worked within our budget but didn’t cut corners on quality or creativity. When the real work began, we appreciated the great care and attention the Sandifer team and their subcontractors gave to our family living and working upstairs in the home, particularly during the throes of demolition, electrical and structural work as well as plumbing. The subcontractors’ attendance and work ethic were phenomenal, and we got to know many of them along the way — you could tell many of them felt pride in being part of the Sandifer family and it showed in their loyalty and craftsmanship. We were also impressed by how the Sandifer team worked through supply chain constraints in what was a very interesting year to be doing a large construction project – they were always on top of things by having options at the quick and ready for us every step of the way. Lastly, and most importantly, our site foreman, Edward, might very well be the most impressive person we’ve worked with. He was always present, incredibly positive, and ready to jump in at a moment's notice to solve a problem or advance the project with whatever was needed. It's funny, but the house is so quiet now and we find ourselves oddly missing all of our daily visitors, especially Edward. We consider him a friend now and our two young kids have adopted him as part of our family. In summary, you are getting more than just “a contractor” with the Sandifer team. They'll take their business — which very much seems to be a culture of family — and they'll blend it seamlessly into yours, getting you to the final product in your beautiful new / remodeled home that you so desire. Great experience. It's a small company and I actually had the owner's cell phone number. He would send me texts for any questions he had and vice versa. You would not have that level of communication with a large company. The project turned out very nice and Nick Sandifer was always concerned that I was happy with the progress..
Sandifer Custom Homes converted my screened-in patio to a sunroom. They did a great job at both the design and construction. Nick, the contractor was very responsive to my requests and his subcontractors did high quality work. I recommend them without reservation.
The Sandifer team, lead by Edward Lopez, did a major remodel of our home. We completely renovated our kitchen with the all new appliances and cabinets and we added a walk-in pantry, laundry room and half bath, adding 600 square feet under roof. We sealed and painted the entire exterior. All started and finished in 4 months and exactly on budget. Edward, the project manager, was excellent and on top of the sub-contractors. I have had 10 neighbors compliment me on the renovation work. Just Excellent!
Nick Sandifer and his team guided us thru the renovated of our master bathroom, the boys’ Jack and Jill bathroom, and a powder room. We were extremely nervous and considered this a significant emotional event given a recent nightmare experience with a different contractor who took our money but left our outdoor project unfinished and in disarray. Sandifer Design Build is the model of professionalism and integrity. Lisa Carrothers’ design perfectly captured the vision we had for a luxurious master bath. Despite our relatively nebulous description, she designed a sanctuary for us, a playful space for the JJ, and a comfortable powder room for visitors. Edward Lopez, the project manager, organized and directed a team of subcontractors while communicating directly with us precisely who, what, when and where workers would be in our home. They cleaned and cleared any debris on a daily basis. Nick holds his team accountable for the highest standard of performance. The bones and beauty of our new bathrooms is truly remarkable. Sandifer Design Build did a complete renovation in our home, the project included the entire downstairs of our home including a new kitchen, breakfast room, new floors, walls removed and added. The scope of the work was large but from our first meeting to the final day the entire team worked to being the project in on time and on budget. Nick, Larry and all the team including subs were always at my home on time, courteous, kept the job site immaculate everyday as we were living in the house at the same time. They went above and beyond, took on added projects I threw at them and completed the entire project with enthusiasm and pride in their work. Our home is a reflection of the detail oriented work that they did, it is everything we dreamed of and more. My wife and I have remodeled homes numerous times, so Sandifer's project was far from our first rodeo. At the outset, I'll admit I was not familiar with Sandifer's method of initiating a project. The expression "measure twice, cut once" would describe it. They put extensive design work in prior to starting (and charged a well-worth-it fee for that work), and emerged with an "all-in" quote for the now well defined project. This is as compared to the "a la carte cost build-up" many contractors use, or worse, the "let's start and we'll figure it out along the way" approach (we've experienced both . . . mostly poor experiences). Sandifer has a superb design team, particularly in the interior space usage, kitchen/cabinet, and interior design areas. You don't need to bring your own designer; Sandifer has that covered. Sandifer's "go-to" subcontractors are all very professional and skilled at their trades ..... and should it happen that one is not fully on top of their game, they see it, and fix it expeditiously. They establish a very clear contract with measurable payment points, and have a "first-in-my-experience" understandable change order system - no surprises! So as craftsmen/businessmen, they excel. But they have more: superb customer relations. To a person Sandifer has great people to work with. To the client, the Project Manager has 80+% of the client contact. Our project manager (Edward) was the best of any job we have done in the last 30 years of remodeling - diligent, on top of the details, professional, and congenial . . but firm with the subs if they needed "some encouragement". Lisa in design, Lenny behind the scenes, and Nick ("the big boss" - always there when needed) rounded out the Team. I'd recommend Sandifer to my best of friends without hesitation . . they won't be disappointed.

We hired Nick and his team to build a fully covered outdoor addition, including an outdoor fireplace, sitting and dining areas, outdoor shower, storage closet and outdoor kitchen. From the design phase to completion everyone was helpful and accommodating. Nick worked hard to come up with cost effective design choices that still gave us exactly what we wanted. If an issue came up multiple solutions were presented and the best solution quickly implemented. Everyone arrived on time per schedule and performed quality work. The team was very flexible with the design changes from our side. Months after the project was complete and we needed help with hurricane damage to the roof, Nick did not hesitate to arrange someone to come out inspect and fix the damage. Overall a very positive experience, would definitely use Sandifer Design Build Remodel for another project.

We wanted our house to have more of an open concept in the main living area, so we hired Sandifer Design Build Remodel to help us remove a load bearing wall between the living room and the dining room. This was a major engineering project since the wall supported the weight of the roof and the wall opening spanned over 30ft. The work involved the installation of LVL beams, support columns, electrical, drywall, paint and tile repair. Sandifer and his team were fantastic from start to finish. His team patiently answered all of our questions and were always conscious to make the project comfortable for my family. We look forward to working with Sandifer Design Build Remodel on future projects.

We hired Nick and Team to create a new addition to our classic San Marco Home and other renovations. Addition included a new breakfast nook, half bath, office, laundry room, and guest bedroom. Renovation included a brand new (awesome!) kitchen, master bathroom, and guest bathroom. This was not an easy task due to the age of the house (75 years old). Electric, HVAC, plumbing, you name it had to be relocated and upgraded. After the dust has settled, we are enjoying our home more than we could have imagined. The quality of work is absolutely impressive. They matched existing 75 year old hardwood floors with brand new hardwood floors in the new areas. You can't see where the originals stop and the new begins! Plus matching the trim, moldings, doors, etc. was not an easy task. On a personal level, they were very helpful and considerate knowing a small family of four was living in the house during this adventure. I definitely recommend Sandifer Design Build Remodel.
When we purchased our home, there were several items that needed to be addressed prior to move-in. Sandifer Design Build Remodel was quick to respond and the end product was wonderful! Highly recommend. We've worked on several other projects since then and are always pleased with the end product.
We had an addition to our home - a closet - 9-1/2 x 11-1/2. Additionally, we had to have a roof tie in from a room next to the addition. We were also dealing with a homeowners association. Nick Sandifer is knowledgeable, professional, and honest. He took great pains and kept things progressing quickly with our small job ( a small bathroom remodel and dining room paint and wood floor refinish). Our initial intent was to act as our own general contractor for the remodel of the downstairs portion of our home (kitchen remodel, painting, wood floors, electrical and plumbing). However, once we met Nick and discussed our plans with him, we knew just from the way he listened to us, the questions he asked, and the ideas he put forward, that we would be much better off with him handling the work rather than us....and we were right. He handled all the expected details of the job along with the unexpected (a leak in an outside wall that needed to be repaired resulting in the need to re-stucco a portion of our home). Throughout the process (estimated to take 3 weeks but took 3 1/2 instead --- that darn leak), Nick was on the job site daily, kept in touch consistently, answered emails and texts promptly (most times within minutes), kept us aware of the schedule, and addressed any and all of our concerns immediately. Also all the sub-contractors he hired came to consult with us about the job, arrived on the job site on time each day, and did a wonderful job. Having never untaken a remodel such as this before, we didn't realize that our experience with Nick was so out of the ordinary. Since then, friends have told us horror stories -- remodels that drag on forever, not knowing when workers will show up, poor communication with contractor, etc. There is no way that a kitchen remodel cannot be an inconvenience but working with Nick and Sandifer Design Build Remodel made it as painless as possible. We would hire Nick again in a heartbeat.
I could not be more satisfied with Nick Sandifer and Sandifer Design Build Remodel! I asked him to build me a freestanding cabana with stucco exterior and shingle roof, and covering an outdoor kitchen with two bars which required new plumbing and electricity, and a full set of outdoor kitchen appliances. The front of the cabana was also connected to the edges of my new pool, which was an added level of complexity. Nick was very professional and met on-site with members of his team to discuss my ideas for the project within two days of calling him. He listened attentively, and quickly returned an estimate and design incorporating everything I wanted. This early display of good listening, communication, and professionalism is what prompted me to hire him. He worked seamlessly with the pool company to get the cabana built, and was always on time with his work, and most often ahead of schedule. There was nearly daily communication about the status of the project, and questions were always answered thoroughly and promptly. The quality of work is excellent, and I would highly recommend this company. Also, towards the end of the project I knew I was going to need landscaping around my pool. Nick asked if I wanted him to help out...I of course said "yes". Within a few days I had an estimate and detailed landscape design, and it was installed in less than a week! My neighbors always compliment the landscape and cabana. You cannot go wrong hiring Sandifer Design Build Remodel...you will be extremely pleased with the results, and might end up being the talk of your neighborhood!

Nick Sandifer dedicated a lot of time to create/build the vision my wife had for our cabana/pool complex. It was to our satisfaction and had attention to detail. He was attentive and responsive to our concerns/questions on details and adjusted the plan accordingly. He spent time with us at set intervals to talk about the project progress and feedback on any issues we may have noticed. There were a few instances that his subcontractors failed him and timing was off creating a lenghly delay in project to be finished. The end result was spectacular!
